Community
PLNL creates substantial and positive impact via an on-going of policy to sustain constructive and effective community relations. This is evidenced through the support and contributions the company has given to worthwhile organisations and activities which are efficiently managed, serve the public welfare in the areas of health, education and agriculture and whose objectives are in keeping with PLNL’s positive goals for the community and country at large.
Such examples of Point Lisas Nitrogen Limited’s support of the fenceline communities are the company’s sponsorship of The Diatonic Pan Institute’s Music Literacy Programme which is a social intervention programme geared at enabling various youths and adults with formal music education and the partnership with Habitat for Humanity T&T which assists with the repair and or completion of needy families’ homes.
Habitat for Humanity (T&T) Ltd
Point Lisas Nitrogen Limited (PLNL), in an effort to assist in the elimination of poverty housing in this country partnered with Habitat for Humanity® Trinidad and Tobago (HFHTT) in 2006, and to date this collaborative effort has borne much fruit. This partnership has provided housing solutions that has impacted the lives of seventy-three (73) family members in Trinidad and Tobago.
PLNL had hoped that this joint venture would provide employees with an avenue to ‘give back’ of their time and talent to T&T by supplying ‘sweat equity’ in the home renovation programme. While this objective has not yet been achieved due to work-related issues that clashed with the timing of the projects, it will still be maintained for future projects, hopefully in 2013.
It is envisaged that this partnership will be strengthened as momentum picks up in HFHTT’s effort to complete at least 100 housing solutions annually going forward.
